Cobblemon 1.7 is one of the most content-packed updates to date, adding dozens of new Pokémon, huge mechanical upgrades, and long-awaited quality-of-life features. This post gives you a quick look at the biggest changes — with links to detailed guides for each major feature.
Rideable Pokémon
You can now ride Pokémon directly in Cobblemon. Just shift-right click and choose the ride option. Whether flying or running, this opens up fast and immersive exploration without requiring extra mods or datapacks.

Players can enjoy upgraded PCs, which now support:
- Renaming
- Sorting by level, name, Pokédex number, gender, or type
- Changing wallpapers (with resourcepack support)
- Filtering by Pokémon properties like
shiny=yes
IV and EV stats are now visible in the PC as well.
Campfire Cooking and Aprijuice

A new cooking system has been added using the Campfire Pot. You can now create items like Lure Cakes to influence wild spawns, and Aprijuice to improve how Pokémon behave when ridden. This system includes ingredients like berries, seasoning, and new crops such as Hearty Grains.
We’ll cover this in full in our upcoming Cooking Guide.
Held Items and Pokémon Cosmetics
Pokémon can now visibly hold items, and some species can wear cosmetic gear like logs, masks, or themed props. These are purely visual but add a new layer of customization. The visibility of held items can be toggled in the Summary screen.
A number of items were also added with competitive use, such as the Clear Amulet and Eject Pack.
In-Game Config and New Commands
A new config screen is available in-game, replacing the need to manually edit main.json. You can now change most settings from within the game client.
Several useful commands were added:
/spectateBattlelets you spectate battles from anywhere/boxcountchanges the number of PC boxes/pcsearchand/pctakeallow searching and managing Pokémon in players' PCs
Cosmetics and Animation Updates
Many Pokémon received updated models and animations, improving how they look in the overworld and in battle. Highlights include: - Dragonite, Garchomp, and Eevee lines - Treecko and Braixen lines - Lesser-seen species like Probopass, Cinderace, and Sharpedo
A full visual changelog is coming soon.
New Mechanics: Marks, Herds, and More
Pokémon can now be awarded Marks, similar to ribbons, which are visible in the Summary screen. Herd spawning has also been introduced, making wild encounters feel more alive.
Other changes include:
- Better spawning performance
- Improved Pokédex visuals
- Subtle tweaks to animations, item behavior, and data saving
We'll dig deeper into each system in separate guides.
